Villa Alice, Malipiero, Codignola, Gosetti
Cartura (PD)
Villa Alice, Malipiero, Codignola, Gosetti in Cartura was built along the Cagnola Canal in the early 1600s, first as a holiday home and then converted into an estate linked to the owners’ business; it is protected by high defensive walls. The villa has a square plan and a cubic shape, and also includes a vegetable patch with a vineyard and fruit orchard. All the windows of the main floor are centred and are gathered in the middle section of the two façades, where they are preceded by a big stone balcony. The villa is home to original Venetian terrazzo floorings, 18th and 19th-century frescoes, and a 16th-century fireplace. This area’s typical rural buildings (called barchesse) feature round arches on bossed pillars and are internally decorated with marmorino.
