Via Romea Germanica

Via Romea Germanica

The Via Romea Germanica corresponds to the journey made by abbot Albert of Stade to return from Rome to Stade in 1236, a journey he described in the “Annales Stadensis”. The route winds for 2271 km from Stade, in the north of Germany, to Rome, passing through the Brenner Pass.   Anguillara Veneta is an obligatory point of passage along this route in stage 64 – (ITA 16) – Monselice – Rovigo, as it has been a point of passage on the Adige River since the Middle Ages. Anguillara’s section of the Via Romea Germanica substantially corresponds to the ancient embankment of the Gorzon river, which is well represented on the map of the Gorzon preserved at the Civic Ethnographic Museum of Stanghella (PD).   Comune: Anguillara Veneta Info: http://www.viaromeagermanica.com/2016/02/04/65-ita-17-monselice-rovigo/
