Oratory of San Daniele

Oratory of San Daniele

Bagnoli di Sopra (PD)

The oratory of San Daniele in Bagnoli di Sopra is a small architectural gem standing in the middle of Bagnoletto (the ancient “Bagnolo de supra”)’s countryside. The first parish of Bagnoli is oriented as was in use for religious buildings at its time, with the entrance west and the apse east; it was built by the Venetian ’Ordine dei Canonici Regolari di Santo Spirito, who settled in Bagnoli after the religious order of Brondolo was suppressed. The plaque on the upper part of the oratory’s southern door reads  MCCCCLXXIII Martii (1473 March), confirming the building date.   The building’s inexorable decline stopped in 1993, when the oratory was given to the Parish of San Michele Arcangelo of Bagnoli di Sopra, who immediately secured it. In 2006, after two years of restoration works, the Oratory of San Daniele got its original exterior charm and beauty back.   Address: località Bagnoletto, Bagnoli di Sopra (PD) Open to the public Info: http://www.parrocchiabagnolidisopra.it/
