Church of San Michele Arcangelo

Bagnoli di Sopra (PD)

The first accounts of the Church of San Michele Arcangelo in Bagnoli di Sopra date back to 954. The original church – composed of a single-nave presbytery with a rose window on a façade divided into two sections – maintained its original looks until 1424, when Bagnoli’s estates passed into the hands of the Congregation of the Holy Spirit, who soon realised that the building was too small to fit all church-goers.   Despite this the construction of a bigger church, including its still existing bell tower, was started only between 1662 and 1674, when the Widmann family arrived.   Address: piazza Martiri d’Ungheria 27, Bagnoli di Sopra (PD) Open to the public Info: www.parrocchiabagnolidisopra.it
