Archpriestal Church of San Martino di Tours

Tribano (PD)

Tribano’s archpriestal church consecrated to San Martino di Tours dates back to 1040, but what we can see today is the result of a reconstruction occurred in 1734 in a Late Baroque style and after 17th-century works commissioned by father Francesco De Grandis, who had been sent there by the then bishop of Padua, Saint Gregorio Barbarigo.   The building has one central nave with a three-unit ceiling framed by frescoes and stuccoes. This church is home to an altarpiece depicting “Saint Martin and the Pauper” attributed to Palma il Giovane, and the main altar, which is in marble and made by DanielettiThe frescoes on the ceiling of the central nave follow the theme of “The Glory of Saint Martin” and “Allegories of the Cardinal Virtures”, and can be most likely attributed to painter Antonio Buttafogo.   Address: via Barbarigo 2, Tribano (PD) Open to the public Info: www.vicariatodiconselve.it
